The Mississippi Chorus

The Mississippi Youth Chorale is an auditioned choir for teen singers performing a wide range of musical styles.

Our goal is to provide an outstanding musical experience that brings together singers from across the Metro Jackson area to prepare great music, perform it with excellence, and give back to the communities in which we live.

If you are between the ages of 13 and 19, we hope you’ll consider joining us! Click here to get started.

The MYC is a new organization under the auspices of the The Mississippi Chorus, governed by their board of directors.

We rehearse on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the choral room at Mississippi College.

We will perform in a variety of venues in the Jackson area. If you have suggestions of groups who would like to hear us, please let us know:

Our Director: Dr. Mark Nabholz is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Mississippi College. He also serves as the Artistic Director of The Mississippi Chorus, MYC’s sponsoring organization. In 2009 he was the founding director of the Augusta Youth Chorale, a nationally recognized 48-voice auditioned youth chorus in the Metro Augusta area of Georgia.

Our Assistant Director: Mr. Andy Beasley is the choral director at Pearl Middle School. Previously he was Director of Choral Activities at Terry High School for five years, where he also taught Music Appreciation and AP Music Theory. His choirs there consistently earned Superior ratings at District, State and National Festivals. Andy is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting at Mississippi College and will be serving as Assistant Director of the Choctaw Chorus at Mississippi College.

Our Accompanist: Mr. Tim Moak
